Final clear up needed. Would spoilerphobes please avoid this post until further notice...

So.... Doom Coalition is over. 😢

But it ended in the MOST FREAKING AWESOME WAY EVER!!!! 😄

But I can guess that there will be some people who will need a bit of closure on this thing... So I'm gonna do my own take on a million Radio Times articles! Why? Because I'm on a freaking roll today! So here are...

ELEVEN QUESTIONS PEOPLE WILL HAVE AFTER HEARING DOOM COALITION 4
By Jack Ryan

BEWARE: THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!

1: WHAT THE FREAKING HELL JUST HAPPENED?!?!

Well, in layman's terms, an old friend of the Doctor's, Cardinal Padrac, had looked into the future of Gallifrey and saw than in many, if not all possible futures, the planet would be destroyed in a war of utterly apocalyptic proportions. (Hint hint...) Unable to find the cause of it, Padrac concluded the best way to ensure Gallifrey's survival would be the destruction of the rest of creation and time. So he manipulated events to end up with a multiple-schizophrenic psychopath, and a telepathic time-lady with the power of sonic destruction on his side and, utilising an ancient doomsday clock, set up the end of everything to a tee.

2: SO HOW DID THE DOCTOR STOP HIM?

Technically, he didn't. Helen did. Along with the Sonomancer, Helen was able to pilot a Battle TARDIS she was trapped in with The Eleven to crash into an amplification device used by Padrac to send Caleera's sound-wave of destruction across the universe and the time vortex.

3: THE SONOMANCER'S GOOD NOW?

I don't know if she could have been classified as good, but she certainly saw the bigger picture after the reveal that Padrac had manipulated her entire life for his own ends, and saw a similar kindred spirit in Helen; two women of immense skill and determination, seen by men as little more than devices, who want to show what they're truly capable of: saving the universe!

4: WAIT, IS HELEN DEAD?!

You might think that, but no. It's revealed by The Doctor at the end that the ship that Caleera and Helen piloted survived the crash and rip in the vortex. Caleera might be no more, but Helen is very much alive.

5: BUT, IF THE SHIP SURVIVED, THEN THE ELEVEN...

Yep, he's out there too. I daresay Helen was probably able to give him the slip and get a head start...

6: WHAT'S HAPPENED TO RIVER SONG?

At the end of episode 2, River was sent into the Time Vortex by the Coalition. But, she was able to use that to her advantage by opening up a doorway to the Doctor's TARDIS and send him through. But that meant she was left in the Vortex as it collapsed in on itself. But that was when Padrac's plan was going along nicely. Now that is has been stopped, The Vortex is intact and structurally sound once more, so I dare say River Song has a way of escaping and living to die another day...

7: SO, WHAT WAS THE MONK'S BUSINESS IN ALL THIS?

Simple. The Monk was not part of the Coalition (at least I don't think he was). His plan was to join the followers of Cardinal Ollistra with the Weeping Angels living in New York in order to ensure the survival of both parties when the inevitable end occurred.

8: WAIT. IS THIS THE SAME CARDINAL OLLISTRA THAT...

Yep, it's that Ollistra! The previous incarnation who regenerates into her 'Chessene' body at the end of the episode. In fact, her trigger happy commander from Only The Momstrous, Velkin also reappears, played by the fantastic Beth Chalmers.

9: WHAT'S HAPPENED TO THE MONK?

Hard to say. More than likely he's still out there, but as we don't know yet where the Rufus Hound incarnation lies in his timeline, it's hard to be definite where precisely he is.

10: SO.... WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE EIGHTH DOCTOR?

Well, in his time-frame, I daresay he's going to go find Helen, save her and recapture the Eleven for good measure... But I'll leave that to more experienced storytellers to decide.

As for us, The Eighth Doctor will be returning in July in the second Classic Doctors, New Monsters boxset where he goes up against the Vashta Nerada, then the Eighth Doctor Era will become the War Doctor era in November when the Eighth Doctor's other exploits in the Time war will be revealed to us.

And finally...

11: DID WHAT I THINK JUST HAPPENED JUST HAPPEN IN THE FINAL SCENE?!?!

Yes, yes it did! I will not spoil this one for you, but I will say that John Dorney, in the last scene, answers a mystery plaguing us since October 2015.... I'll say no more...

Doom Coalition 4 is out now from Big Finish Productions and is available here. Jack Ryan's review of the set can be found here.
